Auroras aren’t that uncommon in South Dakota, but one as brilliant as this one are. My aurora forecaster was telling me that between the hours of 2:00am to sunrise would be the best for viewing on this particular evening, so I was at this spot on Owl Creek near Belle Fourche, South Dakota at 3:00am and wasn’t disappointed.
